U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) doubled down on her criticism of President Donald Trump and his policies, this time taking aim at the president’s policies on tariffs and immigration.
While speaking with comedian Tim Dillon, Greene suggested that the president’s tariff policy is aimed at enriching “crypto donors.”
“And I’m talking to major manufacturing companies that are-, they’re saying we support the president, we support what he’s trying-, his long-term goal. but we’re having problems with these tariffs. And now we’re have problems, we can’t get supplies from this country, and we can’t get supplies for this country. And there’s-, there’s problems,” the congresswoman said.
“But has the, has-, have regular people’s bank accounts been, been affected? Has the stress come off? No, that has not happened yet and that needs to be the major focus,” she added. “It shouldn’t be about helping your crypto donors, or your AI donors, or welcoming in these people that hated you and spent money to try to beat you, but all of a sudden are excited to come out to the to the new Rose Garden patio. That shouldn’t be the focus.”
Greene — who has been the subject of glowing puff pieces from left-wing media outlets following her recent turn on the president — further accused Trump of abandoning his voters.
“The focus should be the people that showed up at the rallies, stood there for freaking 18 hours trying to get in the rain, in the cold, in the 100 degree heat. for those people, those are the ones that I care about. Those are the ones that voted for not only the president, but every single Republican gave us power. I don’t think those people are being served,” she continued.
Elsewhere in the discussion, Greene criticized the president’s immigration policies and suggested that illegal alien labor should be permitted in some industries.
“As a conservative and as a business owner in the construction industry, and as a realist, I can say we have to do something about labor and that needs to be a smarter plan than just rounding up every single person and deporting them just like that,” the congresswoman, whose net worth is estimated north of $24 million, told Dillon. “So, and I’m going to get pushback on that, but it’s, I’m just living in reality from here on out. And if I’m If anybody’s mad at me for saying the truth, then I’m sorry.”
The latest comments come just days after Greene echoed Democrat talking points and blamed the ongoing partial government shutdown on her own party while speaking with CNN.
Greene’s surprising shift has led to fawning media coverage from a number of Democrat lawmakers, pundits and media outlets. “Marjorie Taylor Greene, Welcome To The Resistance,” reads one article published by the far-left blog Slate.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene acknowledges this fight is about the health care of the American people,” said House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) agreed, saying, “Get back to work. Hash this out over health care. I agree with Marjorie Taylor Greene. These are Republicans and Democrats that need these subsidies.”
