The late conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, delivered on Friday evening her first public comments since her husband was murdered by a far-left activist in Utah earlier this week.
Erika and the couple’s two young daughters traveled from Salt Lake City, Utah to their home in Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday evening. They were accompanied by Vice President JD Vance aboard Air Force Two, who accompanied Kirk’s casket as he returned home.
On Friday evening, Turning Point USA announced that Erika would be issuing her first public comments since her husband’s assassination. Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time, Erika began speaking from a podium next to Charlie’s chair, from which he broadcasted the “Charlie Kirk Show” every day.
“Two days ago, my husband went to see the face of his Savior and his God. And one of the final conversations that he had on this earth, my husband witnessed for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Now and for all eternity he will wear the glorious crown of a martyr,” she said.
Erika went on to thank Vice President Vance and his wife, Usha, for their support of the last several days and beyond. “I want to thank President Trump and his incredible family. Mr. President, my husband loved you. And he knew that you loved him too. Your friendship was amazing. You supported him so well,” she added while tearing up.
Erika Kirk went on to reiterate that her husband’s movement was not going anywhere, stating firmly that Turning Point events will continue without delay.
“The evildoers responsible for my husband’s assassination have no idea what they have done. They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith, and of God’s merciful love. They should all know this: if you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country and this world,” Kirk declared.
“You have no idea. You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife. The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry. Everyone listening tonight across America, the movement my husband built will not die, it won’t,” she continued.
“I refuse to let that happen. It will not die. All of us will refuse to let that happen. No one will ever forget my husband’s name, and I will make sure of it. It will become stronger. bolder, louder, and greater than ever. My husband’s mission will not end, not even for a moment. And one of Charlie’s greatest talents was his ability, this phenomenal ability to choose great people to follow him.”

In what was the most heartbreaking moment of a powerful, tear-jerking speech, Erika touched on the horror of having to explain Charlie’s murder to her young daughter.
“And I talked to her and she said, ‘Mommy, I missed you.’ I said, ‘I miss you too, baby.’ She goes, ‘Where’s Daddy?’” After a tearful pause, Erika followed up with, “What do you tell a three-year-old? She’s three.”
“I said, ‘Baby, Daddy loves you so much. Don’t you worry. He’s on a he’s on a work trip with Jesus so he can afford your blueberry budget.’ My goodness, am I so humbled to witness, Charlie, you alongside Jesus right now.”
Kirk concluded the powerful speech with a message of faith, in which she urged Americans to follow Jesus Christ and if they are not already, to start attending a church.
“One of Charlie’s favorite Bible verses was Ephesians 5:25. ‘Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.’ My husband laid down his life for me, for our nation, for our children. He showed the ultimate and true covenantal love.”
Erika and Charlie were married in 2021 and had two young children together. Erika, 36, hosts a twice-weekly podcast, ” Midweek Rise Up, ” ” which aims to “push you, Biblical leadership to challenge you, and God-breathed Scripture to posture your heart for the best that’s yet to come.”
Erika played women’s basketball for Regis University in Denver, Colorado, and won the Miss Arizona pageant in 2012. She also graduated with a double major in Political Science and International Relations from Arizona State University and a Juris Master’s in American Legal Studies at Liberty University.
