{"id":681,"date":"2025-06-25T01:51:07","date_gmt":"2025-06-25T01:51:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/states-news.com\/?p=681"},"modified":"2025-06-25T01:51:08","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T01:51:08","slug":"kamala-harris-hit-with-brutal-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/states-news.com\/?p=681","title":{"rendered":"Kamala Harris Hit With Brutal News"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>There does not appear to be many Californians dreaming of former Vice President Kamala Harris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A majority of Golden State \u201cpolicy influencers\u201d expressed skepticism about Harris\u2019s chances of competing for governor in 2026, when incumbent Democrat Gavin Newsom is prevented from running owing to term limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/04\/15\/poll-voters-kamala-harris-governor-run-00290514\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">survey<\/a>&nbsp;conducted by Politico and UC Berkeley\u2019s Citrin Center, 36% of respondents were \u201cindifferent\u201d to the thought of Harris running, 22% were \u201cmostly excited,\u201d 20% were \u201cirritated,\u201d and 4% were \u201coutraged.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>State and federal lawmakers and staffers were among those surveyed, as were subscribers to Politico\u2019s news products, California Playbook, POLITICO Pro in California, and California Climate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the study, registered voters were more enthusiastic about the former San Francisco district attorney, senator, and vice president gaining office in Sacramento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among Democrats, 41% said they\u2019d be \u201cmost excited\u201d if Harris, 60, ran, while 33% said they\u2019d be \u201cjoyful,\u201d and almost a quarter were indifferent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minority voters\u2019 reactions were varied, with 35% saying they\u2019d be \u201cjoyful\u201d if Harris ran and another 38% saying they\u2019d be \u201cmostly excited.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, 19% of Latino voters said they were \u201chopeless\u201d about Harris running, while 19% of Asian voters said they were \u201cirritated\u201d by the notion, according to the poll. Harris has remained tight-lipped about her ambitions and has kept a low public presence since President Donald Trump declared her electoral victory last November. A formal decision is expected by the end of the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, another former Biden administration official, officially entered the race on Wednesday, launching his campaign for the governorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Early polling suggests that if Harris were to jump in, she would be the clear Democratic frontrunner.
