The Department of Homeland Security said Monday that a hotel affiliated with Hilton canceled reservations for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minnesota. In a post on X, DHS shared a screenshot indicating that a Hampton Inn in Lakeville, south of Minneapolis, informed federal officials that it was \u201cnot allowing any ICE or immigration agents to stay at our property.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hilton clarified that it does not own or operate the hotel in question. As a result, the company\u2019s shares fell by nearly 2.5% on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis hotel is independently owned and operated, and these actions were not reflective of Hilton values,\u201d Hilton said in a statement to Business Insider. \u201cWe have been in direct contact with the hotel, and they have apologized for the actions of their team, which was not in keeping with their policies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHilton\u2019s position is clear: Our properties are open to everyone and we do not tolerate any form of discrimination,\u201d the statement added, per Business Insider<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Everpeak Hospitality, the hotel\u2019s owner, noted in a statement Tuesday that the incident was \u201cinconsistent with our policy of being a welcoming place for all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe are in touch with the impacted guests to ensure they are accommodated,\u201d the statement went on to say, per BI. \u201cWe do not discriminate against any individuals or agencies and apologize to those impacted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hilton\u2019s largest known shareholders are Vanguard and BlackRock, which own approximately 10.6 percent and 8.5 percent of the company\u2019s common stock, respectively, according to Hilton\u2019s 2025 proxy statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
