I thanked her and made my way to the pool area. I kept my sunglasses on, blending in like any other vacationer, until I spotted them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve was lounging in a chair, shirtless and smug, sipping something out of a pineapple.
Beside him was her<\/strong> \u2014 Tessa \u2014 the same ex he used to say was \u201cemotionally unstable\u201d and \u201ca chapter he was glad to close.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, surprise. The chapter had reopened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I walked up so calmly that they didn\u2019t even notice me until my shadow fell over them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve looked up, went pale, and nearly dropped his drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I turned on my heel and walked back toward the valet, dialing Carla \u2014 the same no-nonsense lawyer who\u2019d helped me once before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
