While speaking with Fox News, Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk shared a heartbreaking account of the moment she arrived at the hospital after her husband and the organization\u2019s founder, Charlie had been fatally shot while speaking with college students at Utah Valley University on September 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Host Jesse Watters asked Kirk about the moment she was informed that Charlie had been shot on September 10. She recalled that she was at her mother\u2019s doctors appointment and had just seen the video of Charlie tossing out hats to the packed crowds just before the event had started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd I said, Mom, look, it started. So we saw the hats being flung. I put my phone down, and it was on silent. So I had no reason to look back at it,\u201d she said. At that point, she started to receive calls from TPUSA\u2019s Mikey McCoy about what had just unfolded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd so Mikey called me, and I\u2019ll never forget him just being like, \u2018Charlie\u2019s been shot. He\u2019s been shot, get the kids. Get security, get the kids, he\u2019s been shot.\u2019 I sprinted out of her treatment center, just collapsed in the middle of the parking lot, called our security. Unbelievable nightmare,\u201d Kirk recalled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon arriving at the hospital, she was informed that Charlie\u2019s wounds were fatal and that he was pronounced dead upon arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI never saw the video, I never will see it,\u201d she revealed to Fox News. \u201cI never want to see it, there are certain things you see in your life that you can never unsee. There are certain things you see in your life that mark your soul forever. I don\u2019t want my husband\u2019s public assassination to be something I ever see. I don\u2019t want my kids to ever see that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She then recalled that upon arriving at the hospital, she was advised against seeing her husband\u2019s body for the time being by a police officer. \u201cWe\u00a0get\u00a0into\u00a0the\u00a0room.\u00a0One\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0law\u00a0enforcement\u00a0guys\u00a0comes\u00a0in.\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0very\u00a0sweet,\u00a0but\u00a0what\u00a0do\u00a0you\u00a0say\u00a0to\u00a0someone\u00a0whose\u00a0husband\u00a0just\u00a0was\u00a0assassinated\u00a0so\u00a0publicly?\u00a0He\u00a0said,\u00a0you\u00a0know,\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0been\u00a0doing\u00a0this\u00a0for\u00a030\u00a0-some\u00a0years.\u00a0He\u00a0said,\u00a0I\u00a0will\u00a0never\u00a0tell\u00a0you\u00a0that\u00a0you\u00a0cannot\u00a0see\u00a0your\u00a0husband.\u00a0He\u00a0said,\u00a0but\u00a0I,\u00a0in\u00a0my\u00a0professional\u00a0opinion,\u00a0think\u00a0that\u00a0you\u00a0should\u00a0wait\u00a0to\u00a0see\u00a0him\u00a0once\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0mortuary,\u00a0because\u00a0I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0think\u00a0you\u00a0want\u00a0to\u00a0see\u00a0him\u00a0like\u00a0this,\u201d Kirk said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At that point, the room got noticeably quiet, Krik remembered, as half the people in it likely agreed with the officer. \u201cAnd\u00a0I\u00a0responded\u00a0back\u00a0to\u00a0him\u00a0and\u00a0I\u00a0said, \u2018with\u00a0all\u00a0due\u00a0respect,\u00a0sir,\u2019\u00a0I\u00a0said, \u2018I\u00a0want\u00a0to\u00a0see\u00a0what\u00a0they\u00a0did\u00a0to\u00a0my\u00a0husband.\u00a0And\u00a0I\u00a0want\u00a0to\u00a0give\u00a0him\u00a0a\u00a0kiss,\u00a0because\u00a0I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0get\u00a0to\u00a0give\u00a0him\u00a0a\u00a0kiss\u00a0this\u00a0morning.\u2019\u00a0\u00a0And\u00a0I\u00a0said\u00a0the\u00a0same\u00a0thing\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0doctor.\u00a0When\u00a0the\u00a0doctor\u00a0came\u00a0in,\u00a0I\u00a0said, \u2018I\u00a0want\u00a0to\u00a0see\u00a0my\u00a0husband.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later in the interview, Kirk was asked on her thoughts regarding the presence of cameras in the courtroom during the murder trial of her husband\u2019s suspected killer. Tyler Robinson, 21, is set to face capital murder charges\u00a0after allegedly admitting to assassinating Kirk due to his \u201chateful\u201d views on transgenderism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
