Nancy Mace (R-NC) had filed a motion seeking to strip the “Squad” Democrat from posts on two committees and one subcommittee after Omar declared Republicans are “full of s**t” for their outrage over the killing of Kirk. The four GOP representatives blocked a procedural vote that would have brought the resolution before the full House for a vote.

The vote to table allowed lawmakers to pause consideration of a bill without having to vote on the bill itself.

The measure failed by a single vote of 214-213. Republicans siding with Democrats included Mike Flood (R-NE), Tom McClintock (R-CA), Jeff Hurd (R-CO), and Cory Mills (R-FL).

McClintock said in an interview after the vote that he opposed Omar’s remarks but felt equally compelled to defend her First Amendment grounds to speak out.

“Ilhan Omar’s comments regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk are vile and contemptible. They deserve the harshest criticism of every man and woman of good will.
