A Spirit Airlines jet nearly collided with Air Force One just as President Donald Trump made his way to the U.K. for his second state visit with the Royal Family this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The terrifyingly close call occurred over Long Island less than an hour after the president had departed Washington, D.C., according to an air traffic control recording circulating online. In it, a monitor can be heard screaming at the Spirit Airlines pilot to \u201cget off the iPad\u201d and pay attention to his flight path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDescent three three zero, Spirit wings 1300,\u201d the pilot can be heard confirming as he repeats a directive from control. Seconds later, however, another order was briefly ignored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSpirit 1300, turn 20 degrees right, vectors traffic in descent,\u201d the Boston controller states in reference to Air Force One\u2019s flight path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPay attention!\u201d he shouts while repeating the order multiple times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the pilot grudgingly acknowledges the order, the controller warns him that \u201ctraffic\u201d is \u201coff your wing by\u2026 eight miles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m sure you can see who it is,\u201d the controller states. \u201cI\u2019ll keep an eye out for him, he\u2019s white and blue.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
