{"id":1475,"date":"2025-08-09T13:19:27","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T13:19:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/states-news.com\/?p=1475"},"modified":"2025-08-09T13:19:28","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T13:19:28","slug":"pirro-vows-crackdown-as-democrats-brace-for-legal-storm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/states-news.com\/?p=1475","title":{"rendered":"Pirro Vows Crackdown As Democrats Brace for Legal Storm"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., left a meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House with a stark message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said she just met with the president to discuss \u201ccrime in the nation\u2019s capital.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur job is to get guns off the street, drugs off the street, take care of those individuals who are threatening, carjacking other people, and make this city safe and clean again. And that\u2019s just what we\u2019re going to do. And if you don\u2019t buy into it, you\u2019re going to have to deal with us,\u201d she said in a video posted on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Capitol has been a hot topic of conversation, as the city has been a hotbed of crime for decades while being led by a string of Democratic mayors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">President Trump wants me to relay a message to you about crimes in the nation\u2019s capital <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zvT5YqpaAC\">pic.twitter.com\/zvT5YqpaAC<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Jeanine Pirro (@JudgeJeanine) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JudgeJeanine\/status\/1952816093191664027?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 5, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>President Trump threatened to take over control of Washington, D.C., on Tuesday after one of the original staffers for the Department of Government Efficiency was attacked in an attempted carjacking, NBC News&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/trump-administration\/trump-threatens-federal-control-dc-attack-doge-staffer-coristine-rcna223293\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Edward Coristine \u2014 known online as \u201cBig Balls\u201d \u2014 and a woman identified in police reports as his significant other were targeted by a group of teens just after midnight Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It happened in the nation\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police say two 15-year-olds from Maryland were arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the police report, officers saw about 10 \u201cjuveniles\u201d surrounding the car and assaulting Coristine. That prompted officers to get out of their vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All but two of the suspects fled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police said Coristine told officers he pushed the woman into the car and \u201cturned to deal with the suspects,\u201d who then assaulted him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The case is under investigation by the Carjacking Task Force. Multiple suspects are still on the loose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump, without naming Coristine, posted a statement on Truth Social blasting local leadership and calling the city \u201ctotally out of control.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLocal \u2018youths\u2019 and gang members, some only 14, 15, and 16-years-old, are randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent Citizens, at the same time knowing that they will be almost immediately released,\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said minors as young as 14 should be tried as adults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf D.C. doesn\u2019t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run, and put criminals on notice that they\u2019re not going to get away with it anymore,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former DOGE chief Elon Musk shared a screenshot of the post on X and backed the idea of federal control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He referenced a DOGE team member \u2014 again, without naming Coristine \u2014 who he said \u201cran to defend\u201d a woman being assaulted and was \u201cseverely beaten to the point of concussion, but he saved her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police say the vehicle involved belonged to Coristine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Violent crime is down 26% from last year, according to preliminary police figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, the alleged attack on Coristine comes about a month after a 21-year-old congressional intern was caught in crossfire and fatally shot in Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump has previously expressed a desire to \u201cclean up\u201d the nation\u2019s capital and has threatened a federal takeover of the city, which already has limited ability to self-govern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congress has the power to rescind that authority at its discretion \u2014 or the president\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We pass the BOWSER Act.<br><br>We revoke DC Home Rule.<br><br>We govern Washington through Congress, as the Constitution originally provided.<br><br>Our nation\u2019s capital deserves to be a shining example to the world, not a national embarrassment. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/sRspJ7vNhy\">pic.twitter.com\/sRspJ7vNhy<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Mike Lee (@SenMikeLee) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenMikeLee\/status\/1952837369993875865?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 5, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe pass the BOWSER Act.
