A Johannesburg man is due to appear in court soon after he allegedly beat his five-year old son to death. The suspect was arrested on Friday.
Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubele says the 35-year-old man claims he only hit the child with a belt.
“He assaulted him severely and the child died when the mother came back from work. We are going to profile the suspect to see if he has other cases outstanding against him. Our investigations continue.”
Meanwhile a murder case against a woman accused of killing her 10 year old son of Little Trust, in Lebotloane village in the North West, was postponed to Monday next week, for a formal bail application.
Christina Raphasha allegedly killed her son by stabbing him with a sharp object.
Raphasha handed herself over to the Bedwang police station shortly after the incident.
Police spokesperson Adel Murburgh says the woman will also be referred to Weskoppies hospital for mental examination.
